This watch is believed to be the first Calatrava to ever have the ultra thin automatic caliber 240 which was produced in 1977 and remains Patek Philippe's pride and joy as this caliber is still used until now due to its compact size and the use of the 22K micro rotor this caliber is now found in modern Calatrava, Nautilus, Automatic Perpetual Calendars. All the watches mentioned are derived from caliber 240 and their caliber number is usually 240/(characters specific to the functions). Calatrava models of this age are usually 33mm however this watch is 36mm (35.5mm to be absolutely exact).
