Pre-owned, excellent condition Chopard L.U.C 8HF reference 8554 Titanium gents wristwatch. Only 100 Pieces of this Limited Edition watch were produced in 2012 where the watch retailed for $19,800.
Silvered dial, luminious 'dagger' numerals, constant seconds on a raised black subsidiary dial situated at 6 o'clock with a background aperture for date display in a fan-form, a Titanium 42mm case with a polished bezel and case sides, screw-down crown and a classic pin buckle and a Chopard brown leather with a matte-black coating on the top layer, sapphire crystal glass and automatic movement.
This watch houses an experimental movement beating at 8Hz (57,600 bph), that is 8 times per second. The Chopard L.U.C. 8HF is the first high-frequency escapement to receive the COSC chronometer certification. The technical importance of this is that a balance that beats more times per second is less effected by small shocks and bumps disrupting the movement, compared to lower beat movement, making it more accurate.
To honour the importance of this escapement, the matte case back features a small sapphire crystal display aperture over the escapement. This is secured by six screws in the back and four screws in the lugs.
