Rare Cartier Tank 'Jumbo' | REF. 17002 | Automatic | White Dial | 1970's | 18k Yellow Gold | 28 x 35mm

Pre-owned, excellent condition Rare 1970's Automatic Cartier Tank 'Jumbo' reference 17002 18k Yellow Gold unisex wristwatch. White dial with painted black Roman numeral hour markers and minute track. The "Paris" signature at 6 o'clock affirms that this example still has the original dial in place (many dials were later replaced with generic "Swiss" signed dials at 6 o'clock during service), making this find even sweeter.

Housed in an 18k Yellow Gold 28 x 35mm case, with a smooth bezel, winder with a blue cabochon and deployant clasp, a Cartier black leather strap, sapphire crystal glass and Automatic movement.

The majority of Vintage Tanks were petite with manual wind movements, whilst Tanks produced in the 1980's onwards typically appeared with Quartz movements. However for a few sweet years in the 1970's, the ever experimentative and loved Cartier produced a large Tank with an automatic movement. To accomodate the automatic movement, this rare Tank Jumbo model 17002 features a notably larger case than the classic Tank Louis. The caseback features a round protrusion to house the automatic movement. This rare Tank variation is now sought after by collectors due to the limited run and availability, as well as it's desirable size as a more contemporary iteration of the classic tank.
